Spring brings bluebell covered hills, huge puffs of yellow broom, wild garlic, newborn lambs in the field right beside us, the birds come back, the swallows come back to their nests on the terrace and the flora comes alive both in the countryside and in our garden. The people literally have a spring in their step and nights become longer and later. It can be 20 degrees and still have snow on the mountains .
Summer offers incredible vibrant green everywhere, wild swimming for all, paddleboarding and long, long days spent outdoors. Sunrise is at 5.30 it's still light at 10pm. The terrace becomes an all day affair all doors are flung open a place to enjoy eating outside all day, barbecues or sunbathing in our comfy chairs.
Autumn brings breathtaking views as the trees change colour, leaf kicking, wild mushrooms and fabulous produce. The air smells even more incredible We often get beautiful warm days with blue skies and still have long stretches of daylight.
Winter in Scotland is magical and a bit of a secret to those in the know . The roads are quiet, everyone slows down and has time for a chat. The skies can be magnificent ; northern lights, sunrises, sunsets and clear, clear skies the milky way and sparkling stars . Food becomes about comfort porridge, pies, stews and soup and toasties .You can cosy in by the fire and spend slow unhurried time with loved ones or even super creative time with colleagues. Cold swims exhilarate and standing up a hill listening to the stags rut is a once in a lifetime experience.
As Billy Connolly says there's no such thing as bad weather just the wrong clothes
